Well, August has been a bit of a month!

It started with a quick weekend to Spain to visit family and relax by the pool… and ended up with a solar eclipse and standing on the second largest ice sheet in the world! 😆

A little August recap

I headed out to Iceland hoping to see the total solar eclipse — and, as you may know, the Icelandic weather did its absolute best to ruin those plans!

I didn’t get the perfect view of the sun disappearing that I’d hoped for, but watching the entire world suddenly go dark in the middle of the afternoon was still one of the strangest and most incredible things I’ve ever experienced (you can watch it here.)

A few weeks ago, I shared with the Wandering Motorhome Club members how I used AI to help me work out where to go for the best chance of seeing it — something I’m definitely going to be exploring the use of more while I’m travelling.

And then it was on to Greenland…

Greenland is hard to describe (but I'm going to try anyway!)

It's a bit like Norway... on steroids. The fjords are bigger. The icebergs are everywhere (even in summer). It's more remote, more wild and more... just more.

A few of my favourite moments of the trip included:

• Being helicoptered onto the ice sheet (second only in size to Antarctica). This covers almost all of the country and it's something like 6 times larger than the UK (yes, JUST the ice sheet). It's mind-blowing. And yet, fewer than 1000 people visit it each year.
• Watching a Blue Whale dive down near the ship, and a few humpbacks jumping out of the water
• Seeing the Northern Lights (yes, in August!) whilst the ship was gliding through the dark around huge icebergs
• Watching the moon rise up out of the ocean (and seeing the lunar eclipse- it was beyond beautiful

So, it’s been an incredible month, but I’m also very ready to get back into the motorhome!

So… what’s happening in September?

Quite a lot, as it turns out. 😆

I’m back in the UK briefly before heading off again. During that time, I'm taking the motorhome for it's MOT (fingers crossed it passes- I need it for the rest of the month!!)

Then down to Devon to visit family, speaking at the Shepton Mallet show Saturday and Sunday (grab discounted tickets here) and then doing not one but TWO guided group trips with the Wandering Motorhome Club.

🇫🇷 Wandering Motorhome Club France trips

The first is starting in the UK and we're heading out to the beautiful Loire Valley, where we'll be sampling some wine, enjoying the scenery and chateaux AND enjoying a sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the Loire. (Cannot WAIT for that!!)

The second one is all about the beautiful coastline of Brittany and we're making our way to some of my favourite places, including Pointe du Raz, Meneham beach and the Pink Granite coast.

I’ll be sharing some bits from those as we travel, so even if you’re not joining us this time, hopefully you’ll get to come along virtually.

We're heading to Scotland (ladies only), beginner's trip to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany (starting in the UK) and then heading to the mountains and valleys of Switzerland. I'm excited for them all!!
